Therapy for Toddlers and Young Children
You see a child play, and it is so close to seeing an artist paint, for in play a child says things without uttering a word
Young children feel deeply, even when they don’t yet have the words to explain what’s going on inside. From tantrums to silence, clinginess to outbursts, children are constantly communicating—through their bodies, behaviors, and play.
In early childhood therapy, we create a space where your child’s emotions are welcomed, your connection is strengthened, and their development is supported with warmth, regulation, and compassion.
~ All behavior is communication. When we slow down and get curious, we begin to understand what’s underneath ~
Little Kids, Big Inner Worlds
When Might My Child Need Support?
Therapy can support your child if they are:
Having frequent tantrums, aggression, or meltdowns
Struggling with separation anxiety or transitions
Experiencing sleep, feeding, or toileting difficulties
Adjusting to a big life change (new sibling, move, divorce, etc.)
Showing signs of anxiety, fear, or sadness
Displaying regression or difficulty with peer relationships
Recovering from medical procedures, early stress, or trauma
Highly sensitive or easily dysregulated
You don’t need to have a diagnosis or a crisis. Sometimes you just feel that something’s off—and that’s reason enough to reach out.
Play is Their Language… We Listen Closely
In early childhood therapy, we use play, movement, and relational connection as tools for expression and healing. Together, we create a safe space where your child can explore emotions, build resilience, and feel understood.
Therapy may include:
Child-led or Therapist-led play sessions to support expression, integration, and trust
Parent-child (dyadic) work to support co-regulation and secure attachment
Somatic tools to help your child move through big feelings in their body and rewire their nervous system to be more secure throughout life
Reflective support for parents to better understand and respond to your child
Parent support sessions scheduled independently to offer a space to reflect on and explore what is coming up for you, both seen and unseen, so you can better understand, support, and show up for your child
Skill-building around emotion coaching, limit-setting, and soothing
~ Through play, children learn how to belong in the world, how to express what they feel, and how to heal what they carry ~
Parents Deserve Support Alongside Their Children
When your child is struggling, you might feel helpless, reactive, or overwhelmed. I work with parents just as much as I work with children—because your insight, regulation, and confidence are part of your child’s healing.
Our work together will help you:
Feel more grounded in moments of stress
Understand your child’s behavior with more clarity
Respond with confidence and calm, even when things get hard
Build long-term strategies that support development and connection
~ When a parent feels seen, safe, and supported, so does their child ~
It’s never too early to start supporting your child’s emotional health. Whether you’re navigating daily challenges or seeking healing from deeper wounds, you don’t have to do it alone.

Therapy can start at any age. I specialize in and see children from 0-6, but am not limited to this age range as I have seen children up until pre-adolescence. The form of play and space for expression that I bring in is what will evolve based on need, age and developmental stage. The older your child, the more room for different forms of engagement in therapy.

Depending on your child’s age, session can be done virtually, in office, or in home. Reach out to discuss what option is best for you and your child.

Children often find most success when they feel attuned to their safe base- you! When possible, I always include parents or any primary caregiver in sessions, particularly for younger children, as a means to help your child feel you are engaging with them in a way they want. The more they feel you understand them, the more they are open to the support you will be providing them. Additionally, a big part of our work is to help you uncover some of the thoughts, feelings, and experiences that arise when with your child. Whether it be a behavioral challenge, an emotional challenge, or developmental one, you are experiencing just as much as your child. This space is for you to get support too!
